Algarve through the seasons: When to go there?

The Algarve, a region in the south of Portugal, changes with the seasons. From summer to winter, the region changes its appearance and gives way to different forms of life. However, it welcomes many visitors who come to enjoy what does not change from one period of the year to another, such as the gastronomy or the fabulous landscapes. For a long stay in summer with friends or for a short week in September to extend your holiday, Villanovo offers a wide choice of villas in the Algarve to make sure you have the perfect holiday!

Spring

Spring

If you travel to Faro from March to June, you can enjoy a bright blue sky, a mild climate and a beautiful landscape where trees are in blossom. In spring, the tourist numbers are lower than in summer, although the season attracts travellers to enjoy the seaside towns. The Algarve in spring has a calm and relaxing atmosphere: restaurants by the sea, walks on the beach, shopping in the small local shops, and why not dare to go swimming if the water temperature is pleasant enough?

Summer

Summer

In summer, the Algarve is a victim of its own success with beaches populated by travellers who enjoy the scorching sun and cool Atlantic waters. The alleyways are full and the restaurants delight all travellers in search of good seafood. During a summer in the Algarve, head to Albufeira and enjoy the festive atmosphere that the city offers. Many restaurants and clubs are open throughout the summer in a warm, Mediterranean atmosphere, so enjoy a stay with friends alternating beach days, good restaurants and lively evenings!

Autumn

Autumn

The Algarve is the perfect destination for an autumn getaway, you can stay in Lagos or Sagres or dare to take a road-trip in the Algarve and discover several towns in the region! In autumn, take the time to visit the Algarve's must-see places like the town of Silves and the various museums in the region like the canning museum in Portimao and take the opportunity to stock up on local produce and take home some souvenirs for your loved ones!

Winter

Winter

Winter in the Algarve is completely different from a winter in the UK. Pleasant temperatures, blue skies, and sunshine await you for the mildest winter in the southern Mediterranean. Enjoy Christmas in the Algarve in a beautiful villa that you can select from the wide selection that Villanovo has to offer and enjoy a week or two of winter in the sun! Although the region is quieter than other seasons, there are plenty of activities waiting for you such as visiting Lagos, admiring the most beautiful beaches, or visiting museums and learning more about Algarve's rich past.
